Our Community

MSS believes in making a contribution to the community in which it operates. We aim to achieve this by doing pro bono work for selected clients that are dedicated to working for the public good or in support of disadvantaged groups. Pro bono means "for good" and our work in the area is done at significantly reduced rates or sometimes for free.

PACK

Positive Action Committee for Kids (PACK) is a charity based in Mombasa that funds life-saving chemotherapy drugs for children from low income families suffering from the Burkitt’s Lymphoma cancer.

MSS contributed free of charge an online database to look after patient records, patient visit reports, ward visit reports and provides a drug stock management system.

ACTS

Assist a Child to School (ACTS) is an educational charity operating in the Kongowea slum of Mombasa. It supports disadvantaged pupils whose families are unable to afford school fees by finding individual sponsors and donors to raise finances for equipment and facilities.

At a greatly discounted rate MSS replaced the inadequate Access database with a modern SQL system with an AJAX enabled user interface for both internal management and sponsor online access.

Crossroads Fellowship

Crossroads Fellowship is a large church based in Nyali, Mombasa that also runs educational and outreach ministries up and down the coast.

MSS developed, free of charge, the church’s website based on a Content Management System. It enables the church to continuously update content with latest sermons and announcements.

Kwale District Eye Centre

Kwale District Eye Centre (KDEC) is a rural eye clinic south of Mombasa. Over 38,000 patients have passed through the clinic since its inception in 1993.

MSS installed its proprietary Eye Clinic™ hospital management system at KDEC and subsequently provided additional software services at a substantially reduced rate.

Streetwise Africa

Streetwise Africa, operating in Tanzania, aims to provide a protective environment to children living on the streets, one of the consequences of poverty. Interaction with the street kids provides motivation through reading, tutoring and counselling towards community reintegration.

After MSS developed the Streetwise website, it provided free services including brochure, business cards and logo redesign.
